Ingleborough

Mrs Wild was back at school working today while the lads are still on holiday so it was time for some father/son bonding. We were supposed to be heading to the Lakes for a day on the hills but I couldn't face another long drive on the M6 after yesterdays journey home . So we opted for a 40 mile trip to Ingleton to climb Ingleborough one of Yorkshires Three Peak. It was glorious apart from the haze. The mountain is made up of layers of carboniferous rock on a bed slate granite a bit like giant gateaux and you can idenify all the layers as you walk up. The ancient Brits built a fort on top and at one time May fairs used to be held on the summit. My lads describe the mountian as being like the plateaux in Conan Doyle's Lost world. Great day out good job I took the sunblock.
