In the capital
A return trip to Edinburgh today to take Daughter Two back to her flat. The promised rain materialised, but as usual as we approached Callander the weather changed - the rain stopped, the sun came out and the temperature rose!
I went for a wander down the road to stretch my legs after arriving. This is a fairly mixed part of Edinburgh as far as people, buildings and tidiness go. There are some lovely buildings, but many are run down and some of the streets and gardens are rather weedy - many of the flats are short-term student rents. I was impressed by this design on the electricity box, even tho' it was probably illegal!
A rather frustrating journey both there and back, trailing along for miles at 35-40mph behind lorries and tourists. We were within a couple of miles of home when the traffic began to pile up and someone coming the other way stopped to say that there had been an accident on the outskirts of Oban and that the road might be closed for some time. So everyone turned round, backtracked a couple of miles and took to the single track road which circles around Oban. A nightmare with cars trying to pass each other - it added nearly an hour to the journey!
