Stitches

Rain stopped outdoor activity today so Mrs C pressed on with some embroidery. It’s all part of a project for her WI, with a lot of the members completing one of these pennants. The theme is either something you’ve missed during the pandemic, or something that got you through it. In Mrs C’s case, it’s photography that has helped over the last eighteen months. I suppose if I was doing one, I’d be featuring a pair of running shoes and some dumbbells! The aim is to eventually string all the completed pennants together to make a permanent reminder of these times. My artistic endeavours for today extended solely to applying the third (and final) coat of varnish to the unit in the lounge!
Did the usual weekly food shop earlier. Not much evidence of shortages, as the media would have us believe, and we got everything we wanted or needed. Except skimmed milk. Don’t know why there wasn’t any of that, but I’m sure I’ll be able to track some down tomorrow. Ten days after the easing of restrictions, it’s noticeable that mask wearing is still very much in evidence. I shall continue to wear mine anywhere there is a crowd, until such time as the hospitalisations and deaths start declining again, as I can’t help but think that the decline in cases is more due to less tests being undertaken than the virus starting to run out of hosts.
Could do with the joiner reappearing in the next day or so. There is only a bit of work for him to do to finish the job and once it’s done, we can fill the wardrobe and move on the next stage - hopefully involving electricians and tilers.
