Before Its Time

An upturned water lily floats gently by. Not sure of the cause of its demise although the stem appears torn. There is quite an outcrop of water lilies along the shore, which, other than this one, are standing tall because of the low water level, rather than floating on the surface as I have normally seen them.

I carefully framed the leaf inside a frame formed by the surrounding reeds, ensuring the tip of the stem fell at the apex of the top two. There was a bit of golden light trickling through the reeds which are just out of shot creating a bright reflection on the water contained by the upturned water lily.

Sometimes it's good to stop and take notice of the mundane.
