Country walks

Storm Evert brought rains overnight, and on and off, most of the morning meant plenty of time to watch the Tokyo Olympics. Call me old fashioned, but as a TV licence payer I am reluctant to pay further for sports channels. This year the BBC coverage has been very sparse due to a deal struck by the Olympics with one US pay to view channel.
The BBC made no mention of this in their trailers for their Tokyo coverage. It has subsequently emerged that the BBC are broadcasting 350 hours of live sport this year. In previous Olympics it has been 5000 hours!

We walked around Bredon again in the afternoon and chatted with some of our immediate neighbours. Based on our week’s stay here we get the impression that this a friendly village community. The only downside is the incessant noise from the M5. I am conflicted here as I have contributed to that noise countless times without realising it.

The drug deaths in Scotland, announced today, make for very sobering reading indeed. I had hoped that the numbers might have been lower. Hopefully the new interventions will begin to have an impact. Every life lost in this way is so unnecessary. The FM was conspicuous by her media absence today preferring to send out lesser politicians to explain what the SNP will be doing now to address this disgraceful situation.
