Sea Holly

Today's the day ...................... to sunbathe

Who could not be impressed by this extraordinary group of plants, commonly known as sea holly?

This one I think is Eryngium 'Catherine Blair', named after the founder of 'The Rural', the Scottish Women's Rural Institute.  It is a fairly new variety which became the SWI Centenary Plant in 2017.  The silvery flowers become an intense metallic blue as they mature.

And, as you might have guessed, they prefer a sunny position ..................
