Burnet Moths.
It will come as no surprise that we return to the reserve today. It’s a late afternoon visit, an almost desperate attempt to get myself out of the house - and as usual, nature, walking and photography work their healing magic.
Today’s blip comes from early in our walk. It’s the first time we have seen - or noticed - Burnet moths. G is amazed that such creatures exist; me - less so, having seen several on blip this year. But still, I’m thrilled to see them. First, we see groups feasting on the purple-tinted teasels; then individuals on knapweed. I decide to go for the teasel tangle, not wishing to repeat the pink assault of two days previously. Best viewed large!
