Some years ago - maybe about 5 or 6, we decided to dig up all the camellias and replace them with Banksias.  

The Banksias died.  

This camellia should have died, but decided it would give life another go - and this is the first year it has flowered since the rebirth.

Clearly camellias know better than I do about what will grow and what will not, so you could say that camellia won - and I am so pleased because these flowers are stunning.
