Worcesterberry

Think of a cross between a gooseberry and blackcurrant, with nasty spiky stems, my fingers are sore just thinking about it. We made a start to collect, top, tail and bag the berries for the freezer the aim is to pick the fruit once it is black, although it became fairly obvious after a few minutes of picking that most of the fruit is not yet fully ripe, just hope the weather is kind to them as we wait.

This bush was given to us some twelve years ago, it didn’t do much until a couple years ago, now it is over two metres tall and wide and full of fruit. It was worth the wait, well once the berries are in the freezer and the fingers have healed.
