Everyday I Write The Book

One of our empty local office buildings Is surrounded by hoardings and neglected walls, but these are now getting a makeover pending planning permission to demolish and rebuild on the site. The ambition is to use the car park for markets and events, and in August there are two vegan markets happening, so my conversation with the artist today was both encouraging and timely. As you can from the extra it’s quite a long frontage  and quite nicely done if you like giant flowers out of some psychedelic dream landscape.

The floating coffee shop has had solar panels fitted (see second extra) which sets a good example on the sustainability front. Still a bit unclear how it’s all going to work; I have visions of people leaning in for their Frappuccino and falling in the canal. Here’s hoping not.

I survived rather than thrived at work today then Strider and I watched Where Eagles Dare in the early evening. I had forgotten what an extraordinarily long film that is. It’s of that genre of old war films where vehicles explode almost spontaneously because the timing of the not-very-special effects could never be guaranteed. Nowadays we have CGI, Bluetooth and computer controlled pyrotechnics …

Got drilled by the dentist again today, but managed a lunchtime walk and a coffee. Picked up a couple of new books, including the latest Elif Shafak.

Not a bad day.
