The Team
Last of the Summer Wine Skiing Trip
Day Two
A long & at times arduous trip on the coach through the night finally brought us to our destination of Brides-Les-Bains, part of the 3 Valleys ski resort, just in time for breakfast.
The hotel is adequately equipped for all our skiing needs & once we'd breakfast'd, freshened up & donned our winter attire, we're trundled down to the gondola that would carry us over 13km for 25 mins to Meribel, where we could then strap on those familiar planks & polls & schuss & shoop away!
It's always an odd thing standing on a snow or ice covered slope dressed & looking like a cross between Mr Blobby & the Michelin Man, & it takes a few minutes to grasp what on earth we're all ruddy well doing on the side of the mountains. The feeling subsides once you're heading down the slope, feeling the breeze & taking in the wonderful scenery. Of course that all changes if & when you catch an edge, you're whole world can change in that instance, but you just have to pray that doesn't happen!
Pictured here is the Team on our first mid-morning coffee/ hot chocolate break at one of our favourite places. It has fantastic views but there is plenty of time for that. This a view that will be familiar to me over the next few days & so I wanted to share it with you, at least while everyone is still happy & all in one piece!
