Downpour changed to a drizzle.
We took advantage of a break in the weather and walked into the little market town of Hawes. The name Hawes means a ‘pass between mountains’ and it stands between the stunning “Buttertubs” and “Fleet Moss”
We walk past a small waterfall on Gayle Beck that passes through the centre of town. The town has beautiful hanging baskets and floral displays. It also has the most amazing knitted displays - courtesy of the Hawes-Close-Knit-Friends (see extra).
We walked back to base and just got safely inside when the heavens opened again.
