Everyday I Write The Book

Fuzzy at the edges

That was us today. Heavy rain and flies in the kitchen were enough to try the patience of a saint; still, the fake IKEA flowers were cheery

Finished reading The Country of Others by Leila Slimani. Can’t remember the last time I devoured a novel in a weekend. Very powerful book, set after World War Two and the Moroccan struggle for independence from France. Really compelling characters and some deep questions about the extent to which history and landscape shape people as opposed to the ordinary vices and virtues that impel people towards happiness and tragedy. Really recommended but will leave you reeling.

Had to do two or three hours work this morning. Hate having to do tha at the weekend but a deadline is a promise.

1,138 days until I can completely retire.
