Hawkmoth pupa perhaps ?

This must be the pupa of a very large moth... it's about the size of a finger - perhaps a hawkmoth of some kind. I found it on the ground in front of Saffron. I suspect she must have been playing with it but doesn't seem to have damaged it. In the hope that it will continue its development normally, I've put it on a ledge where she's unlikely to find it. But I suspect it should be hanging in some vegetation somewhere
