Egret
Once again, apologies to those of you suffering from snow. It was beautiful and springlike here this morning. Dropped my daughter off at work at 8.00 and then went down to the river for a walk. The sun was bright and warm, there were insects flying around and there were catkins on the trees. There were swathes of daffodils along the roadside and one or two plants showing signs of flowering.
There weren't any migrant birds around, but a good range of native birds - buzzards, wrens, mallard and teal, swans and the egret pictured, which was using this log as a perch as the tide rose and covered the mud on which it had been feeding.
