The Stone Bridge in Skopje, Macedonia

Arrived in Skopje tonight to take part in election monitoring mission. Based here in Skopje for two days for a lot of meetings before being sent out to somewhere around the country on Saturday.

Managed a quick stroll near the hotel tonight, which is next to the river and there is a lot of construction going on. New bridges and buildings and a lot of statues, some of which are enormous!

This is the 'stone bridge' and the building is a government ministry (I think). There was a sign on the bridge which said that Karposh, the leader of the people's great uprising in the 17th century was executed in 1689 on the stone bridge in Skopje.

There is a large statue of Karposh next to the bridge on the far side of the river, but it isn't in this picture.
