No walk this morning, I just didn’t get my act together. We did start a new jigsaw. TT and I made some progress with the straight bits and got most of the frame in place, but it was hard. Good luck to R, L and C in finishing it.
It was quite showery this morning, but we decided to head towards Brodick. We browsed Arran Aromatics and the Arran Cheese shop – making a few purchases along the way, then checked out the brewery and the new garden centre. We also checked out a new cocktail bar on the beach, unfortunately it was closed, but it looks interesting.
Next stop was the Heritage Museum café for a lovely lunch and very tasty tray bake to finish off with. We walked along to the main drag in Brodick, taking the scenic route along the Fisherman’s path. The weather had improved hugely and we spotted the Waverley paddle steamer in the distance. BB and TT really wanted to play crazy golf, but it was mobbed. Everyone must have come out with the sunshine. We came home and all headed to the beach for a last wander, where there was a stone skimming challenge. I’m not sure who won, maybe L – though BB would probably like to claim the prize. We finished our afternoon sitting in the garden enjoying a last drink before heading for the ferry – when we discovered the ferry had been cancelled as a crew member had tested positive for Covid.
TT then spent ages trying to get in touch with Calmac, but only R succeeded via twitter. It has its uses. We did go down to the ferry terminal to check the position for tomorrow, but there was no one around. Luckily we were able to stay another night with L, R and C. It would have been very stressful if we had had nowhere to go. L stretched tea out to include us, then we watched some TV. I was relieved that I hadn’t stripped the beds, which I almost did this morning,
Very late, when we should have been in bed, R and I went out to look for deer in the adjoining field then did a bit of star gazing. There are definitely worse places to be stranded!
This is Sannox Beach late this afternoon. The extra is the Waverley.
