Definitely my best side

I seem to be specialising in rather coy over the shoulder looks lately.

This is a Masked Lapwing, aka spur-winged plover, aka Vanellus miles.. The Rower and I ventured in an new location after shopping this afternoon. In the next suburb to us there is an off-shoot of the Adelaide Botanic Garden, called Wittunga. There is quite a history to this place, but I'll let the Rower go into all the historical detail.

Suffice to say the place was absolutely alive with birds, but I only managed to get a few shots off before the Rower positively wrested the camera from my feebly clutching fingers. He had the wide angle lens on his camera, and it wasn't right for this particular location.

Anyway, this Lapwing is already in the BigBlipYear courtesy of my good friend TeeJay, but I've never blipped it before, so I'm happy.
