Woody Wednesday (18th August 2021)
Sadly I missed an opportunity to snap Refna standing inside a green waste bin, to compress the contents so she could add more, although I'm sure she wouldn't agree. I remarked on the enormous leaves of this self-seeded Front Yard green alkanet springing up through the concrete, today's only shot.
With thanks to Miranda1008 for hosting Wildflower Week.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Brooklyn Raga Massive: Terry Riley's In C (recorded live, Joe's Pub At The Public, New York NY, 11 January 2017)
Brooklyn Raga Massive: Neel Murgai (sitar, vcl), Arun Ramamurthy, Ken Shoji, Trina Basu (vlns), Adam Malouf (cello), Eric Fraser, Joshua Geisler (bansuri), Lauren Crump (cajon), Max ZT (dulcimer), David Ellenbogen (gtr), Aaron Shragge (tr), Michael Gam (bass), Vin Scialla (frame dr), Roshni Samlal, Sameer Gupta (tablas), Andrew Shantz, Timothy Hill (vcls)
I was introduced to Terry Riley's In C by John Peel on his Top Gear programme, and also when he was a resident DJ at Mother's Club in Erdington, Birmingham as he used to fade the piece up in between his musical selections to speak to us clubbers.
The piece has taken on a life of its own since then and has been adapted to many styles and instrumentations and I have built up quite a selection of them on CD and from off-air recordings over the years. My latest was this live raga interpretation by Brooklyn Raga Massive which I played today. It is about 75 minutes long, but this exuberant film clip has been made around 7.5 minutes of excerpted 'cells' from the album.
