Llyn Brenig
What a wonderful last day here in NWales. We spent the morning at Llyn Brenig, a large reservoir, owned by Welsh Water with a lovely visitor Centre and cafe and home to fisherfolk, sailors, walkers, bikers, nature enthusiasts, bird watchers and more. We walked a fair way round the reservoir, picnicked on a bench watched by many curious sheep, and walked some more. Before leaving this lovely space we visited the N.Wales Wildlife Trust hide where we were hoping to catch a glimpse of the Ospreys nesting nearby only to be told that the platform erected for them had been vandalised and there were no nesting pairs this year. Someone had come with a chainsaw after closing time and completely demolished the platform .... amazing to think that some people would do such a thing???
Whilst at the hide I did spot several Siskins, Chaffinch, Goldfinch and Coal Tits on the bird feeders kindly provided.
We went off piste on the way back to Matilda which involved some very rural routes, encountered a few traffic jams, mostly sheep, but rewarded with some breathtaking scenery, loved the hills completely shrouded in heather.
Have really loved our time here and our super caravan site - we shall definitely be coming back.
