One Step at a Time

Tree Trio

These trees are on the hill above Thornes Farm in Stonnal, Staffordshire. I have photographed them before on a warm Spring morning a couple of years ago. In contrast, today, I walked here against an icy wind that is threatening yet more snow in the next 48 hours. To maintain the ambience, I was listening to the Guardian Science Weekly Podcast which was talking about the biological process that Captain Scott of the Antarctic went through as he froze to death on his return from the South Pole 101 years ago almost to the day (they made their final camp on 19th March, Scott's last diary entry was 23rd March and it's estimated he died on 29th or 30th March 1912). Not sure what species they are by the way - Ash maybe ??
