Bee Tree
Time to tackle the spruce that fell within 2 metres of my bee hives during the hail storm ten days ago. The bees are in desperate need of attention. This year has been dreadful for all beekeepers in the area with massive drop in honey. I haven't even bothered to collect any as there is frankly no excess for us humans, the bees need it themselves. It is now so desperate that I will still be feeding them each with at last 15 kg of sugar fondant.
But first have to cut away the tree blocking the path. Can't really be seen in the photo but the last 4 metres or so of the top of the tree had been severed by the new extra strong electricity wire directly above the hives and luckily for us no loss of power. It would have brought down the lines yet again had the electricity company not made the decision to replace the four thin wires (and all the poles) with one strong bundled insulated wire, which they did in 2017 after the last such event.
In the extras, some better idea of the task, the worst part being the trunk lying still attached to the roots in the stream. Well, at least we have heating wood for winter 2022/3.
Once freed from the roots, I lifted the bottom part with the tractor and took it in one piece to the house to saw into smaller parts later. Lot easier than standing in water and doing it!
