Rain on the line

It had tried to rain from time to time since the heatwave here but so far it had not come to much. Today the fine drizzle became heavier but not before we had watched our six year old grandchild at his football training. His dad was leading a very professional football session. We were very impressed.

I took this photo of the raindrops on the washing line in the mid afternoon as the rain stopped.

We walked 4 miles around the fields on the border of the village. We saw the G&W Heritage railway’s last service of the day pulled by another vintage diesel. I remember seeing these locos in 1970 pulling the Night Aberdonian on the coastal route just south of The Granite City to King’s Cross. To see these locos now confined to an isolated 14 mile track reminds me of large wild animals confined to zoos.
