Snowshill
Today we saw three hedgehogs that had been killed by speeding road vehicles that dominate the roads round here. I am not sure what we can do to assist this increasingly endangered species that used to be such a common sight across the country.
We had planned to visit the Tewksbury Classic Vehicle Festival today. On our way to Tewksbury we encountered a massive traffic jam. I am not sure if the festival was the main cause of the jam but there were many vintage vehicles in the queue suggesting that there was a connection.
We gave up on the Festival as we drove past, by using an alternative route, we saw that it was a very busy event indeed. We are keeping clear of crowds for the time being due to Covid.
We diverted to a nearby National Trust property at Snowshill. It was an oasis of calm. Its gardens were fascinating. The fruit in the orchard were glowing enticingly. Temptation to scrump was … resisted!
We also detoured to watch some of the railway busyness at Toddington station. I was pleased to see many more passengers on the trains today. Post Covid these revenue streams have never been more vital.
