Thank goodness it's over!
Today....that is!
The stress levels in this house have been sky high over the last few days as Annie has come nearer and nearer to her grade 7 piano exam. Today she peaked just before the exam, then took it - after which she reached complete meltdown and sobbed all the way home. :-( Thank goodness it's over now. We 'celebrated' with Prosecco and chocolate, to make her feel a bit better, then I made delicious French galettes for tea.
Next was practicing with Tom before his first solo live performance at school - the practice went very badly so he refused to go! I then put on the chief negotiator's hat and managed to coerce him (without too much bribery or blackmail) and we got there, his face looking like Mr Grim. He sat glaring all the way through the first half until it was his turn and when I sat at the piano and looked at him he actually smiled! We launched into 'We don't Eat' by James Vincent McMorrow and he was suddenly transported to a different place! He left the stage to tremendous applause and I believe he was suddenly one of the coolest boys in the room! I was very proud of him :-)
So now Annie and I are sitting in my bed sharing the rest of the bottle of Prosecco watching some dreadful dross on the telly but I don't mind.....she's smiling again!
