There Will Be No Miracles Here

This sculpture by Nathan Coley is one of my favourites.  It sits in the grounds of the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art (Modern Two) which is on one of my running routes.  For me, the placing of the sculputure with a backdrop of three churches is important to the work and makes it more powerful.  And there's humour there too.  This morning's haar added to the atmosphere.  Coley's work often raises social and political questions.  This work explores the notion of belief.
