Flying High
AS we worked outside today the sky was full of hirundines. The swallow family consists of swallows, house martins and sand martins but not swifts, they're a different type of bird.
Our "own" couple of pairs of house martins kept coming down and checking out our new concreted nestboxes, chattering to each other as they did so. Anyhow, whenever I lifted the camera up to the sky the throng vanished and I kept getting left with a pair of swallows.
Work was slow and tiring on the summerhouse today, fiddly stuff, getting bolts located, fitting guttering and fascia boarding to the front. We also got some slabs laid ready for my redesign of the patio.
When checking the spelling of hirundine I noticed an article about Hirondelle, a wine of the 70's. Who remembers that?
