Destiny
Destiny (Small Child Launching A Boat) is the title of this charming sculpture by Angela Hunter, which I remembered from our last visit to St Ronan's Wells and planned to blip today. It is placed in a perfect setting of the small stream derived from one of the wells (springs) in the delightful community-maintained garden, behind the pavilion. Apparently 'Destiny' is modelled on her daughter.
Unfortunately today the tap for the famous water was out of use (it seems the water supply in the Doo Well is insufficient at present) and the museum closed, however we had a good conversation with a resident, who, while busy watering the garden, told us much about the artist, whose studio is in Innerleithen, and other examples of her work. We did recognise one, that in Galashiels of the sweetie seller called Coulter, real name Robert Coltart, (well-known in the children's song) and will look out for others.
