I was intrigued to see that this news from Holyrood failed to make the headline stories on BBC 1 Scotland at 10 o'clock last night.

Wind chill this morning is -6 on the beach and the strong south easterly almost blew me to a standstill on my run home A large flotilla of craft are sheltering from the gales in the inner Forth. I was pleased to be home from the south before the snow came in to the M6.

This wintry spell seems to be going on indefinitely?
