A Long Way From Home

I decided it was time I branched out a bit so I did part of the Sheffield Country Walk which passes our house. I have done it in its entirety (in stages of course as it is nearly 55 miles) twice in the past. It is a walk that takes you all round the edge of the city and because of Sheffield's location, it covers an incredible range of landscapes. The walk I did today was much further than I have walked for some time and involved some steep climbs even by Sheffield's standards. It meant I got a view of our village from across the valley. The spot where I took this has become known as he Côte d'Oughtibridge since the Tour de France passed this way a few years ago,  and it is also the location of the Birley Stone which is in extras - erected in 1951 to commemorate the Festival of Britain.
As a good deal of the walk took me through woodlands, I'd hoped to see some fungi, but there was very little about, despite recent rainfall.
