Now, as I see it......

Time for cocktails?

A couple of months ago I mentioned that we had taken an old clock to be repaired.  It was a wedding present to my grandparents which, I think, dates it to around 1900-1905, and was passed to me in a bit of a sorry state several years ago when an elderly aunt died.  The clock was very dirty, the glass was intact but separate, and the brass surround to the face had been painted black.  I’ve now got it back from the restorer and he has done a superb job.  The case has been thoroughly cleaned and polished, the movement has all been cleaned and the glass reinstated over the face.  The black paint has been removed revealing the original brass surround.

It chimes on the hour and half hour and has a lovely soft chime.  I’m very pleased to have it back; it now has pride of place in our lounge!
