The ‘Odeon’ in Alderney

Today I did a walk which went past the Roman Fort which is currently being excavated, several Victorian forts and also many remnants of the German a occupation in WW2.
This is is a Naval Range-finding Tower constructed by the Germans nicknamed the Odeon. It has recently been restored so that you can now go inside and see what the crew living conditions were like and also see out towards France. The purpose was to observe enemy ships and be part of a network with other towers around the island. The rounded front section was for observation and the rear fir accommodation and target plotting. See extra.
