Green green grass of home

Slept heavily……later to bed than I intended, didnt wake until almost 9am!
Fruity breakfast, then got ready to walk down into town, neighbour D knocked on just as I was getting ready to go, he came to help me sort out how best I can get the loft ladder down by myself. Its sussed, I need a pole with a hook to pull down the ladder, its had a spray of WD40 too, which had made it much easier to slide. We have another job to tackle, to connect the hose to the new pond pump, which will enable the fountain and bubble pool to work properly……..but we postponed that for now.

I walked into town, got the things I needed for the afternoons cooking session, then the obligatory flat white in Costa……enjoyed it, sat reflecting on things, made me feel sad :-(  Pulled myself together and walked home.

Once back, I gathered all the ingredients needed for Hungarian chile pepper goulash with pork shoulder. Browned the meat, then assembled everything else, then into the oven for a long slow cook.

Made scrambled eggs & toasted brown bagel for my lunch,  before getting out into the garden for a couple of hours graft. Cut back an ivy and a low growing pine that were overhanging one of the paths to the front door.
Weeded one of the borders in the back garden. Watered all the containers, boxes and baskets….filled them bird bath and plate on the floor, emptied one of hubs old strawberry containers, just need to transfer the soil into one of the borders tomorrow then it can be thrown away.  Picked all the ripe blueberries, have had lots this year, the birds usually get them, but for some reason they havent had them this year?! Maybe hubs been standing guard :-)

Just after 5 decided it was time for a rest, opened a chilled bottle of rose and took a seat for a while……got a bit tearful, looking at the garden, thinking about all the jobs that still need doing, feeling a bit sorry for myself I think, enjoyed the sun on my face for a while, felt nice.

Took the goulash out of the oven, the pork had just fallen apart…..should be even more tasty tomorrow, when we plan to have it for Sunday lunch. Made myself a chinese chicken curry with onions and peas, with some onion rice for my tea……by which time it was 7pm.

I had already made my mind up earlier that I would go for a late evening walk, as Sir Tom was playing over at Haydock Racecourse, which is less than 30 minutes walk from home. He didnt come on until just before 9, I could here the crowd roar as he started his set. I hung around for a little while, before walking back home, whilst listening to him sing Whats new pussycat, Windmills of your Mind, Sexbomb & Delilah…..which the crowd loved!!!

By the time I got back home it was getting towards 10pm, I felt my fitbit vibrate on my wrist, telling me Id topped 20k steps today, proof in extras lol
No wonder my legs feel a bit achey!  The other extra is the view from the top of the race track where I was standing when Sir Tom came on stage.
The roar was loud, a very enthusiastic crowd I think, which includes a few people I know funnily enough ;-)

Think I will sleep well tonight !!
