Achmelvich Beach
A lovely sunny day, again
We drove north from Ullapool along the narrow coastal roads to Achmelvich Beach. Being there brought back two memories. The first was 55 years ago exactly when Eleanor and I, 6 weeks after we got married, did a whirlwind tour of Scotland over the Bank Holiday weekend. We stayed at the Achmelvich Youth Hostel, after arriving late. We went for a walk, in the dark, paddled in the amazing sand but Eleanor thought she was sinking in Quicksand and cried out, so I had to save her!
It brought back an even older memory for me. 60 years ago, when I was 17, I cycled round Scotland in a fortnight and stopped at Achmelvich, again staying at the Youth Hostel. All the time I was driving, I couldn't believe how I managed to cycle all those miles and up and down all those hills.
We have now arrived in Inverness for a couple of days.
I haven’t had time to make up Albums of the photos I took but I will link to them when I get home.
