GUILLEMOT

I was very excited to see my first Guillemot in these here parts, down in the Marina lock, but when I sent it to a local bird site I was told there are hundreds of them around the Headland and Marina at the minute. Never mind, I'm still excited to see it. And it was B with his terrible eyesight who spotted it, so that was good. He noticed a bit of movement in the water and asked me what it was. This is winter plumage, according to the book, and today's weather certainly warranted it, August or not. I had winter plumage too, four layers including cardigan and coat.
