The tide is high

One last stop before we headed for home; the Holy island of Lindisfarne.

We timed it perfectly! According to the local tide times, crossing was safe from 11.30am. However, our host last night said there was usually a good bit of leeway, so we took a chance and got there at 10.30am.

The crossing was clear and the car park was virtually empty. We had a bit of a wander, a brew, a wee then back to a very busy car park.

By this time, it was 11.30 and the traffic coming onto the island was horrendous! Obviously everyone else had waited until the official crossing time.

We were so glad we’d gone earlier! Though the water looks close to the road on the photo, we weren’t reckless; traffic was flowing in both directions, so we knew it was safe to cross. Had we got stuck, there’s always this little hut to seek shelter in! :-)
