Courgette and Cauliflower

Today's the day ......................... for strange fruits

I was given a present of both of these today from two different friends.

As you can see, one is an oversized courgette that I'm going to make some soup with.  The other is a purple cauliflower - that I have to say is a new vegetable concept for me.  Jenny, who gave it to me, said that it wouldn't lose its colour when it's cooked - unlike purple carrots or purple beans.  So you had to be prepared for a strange-looking concoction if, for example, you put white sauce on it.  Everything would end up pink.

Sounds exciting though ..................!
