Today's the day ........................ for a little miracle

I completely forgot to lift this dahlia tuber in the autumn of last year - and so it spent all the winter months in the ground.  I'd really given up all hope that it might have somehow survived all the wintry weather and the spring frosts.  But somehow it did - and back in about May, a shoot appeared.  

After that, the rabbits went on the rampage and dahlia leaves were quite near the top of their 'most-delicious'  list.  But somehow it survived the rabbits too - perhaps because the leaves are a dark reddish sort of colour.  And here is its lovely flower, in all its glory.
