Cove Bay, nr Aberdeen
A mixed day of mist and sunshine
We set off from Inverness to Aberdeen. We had intended to travel via Ballater which meant travelling over the Lecht summit but when we got there we discovered the road beyond was closed because of repairs to a bridge. This meant a long detour back round via Dufftown and we arrived mid afternoon in an hotel in Cove Bay, just outside.
We made a late booking for the hotel at an excellent price. It was much less expensive than our other accommodation but included a pool and Gym.
We went for a walk along a nearby cliff top overlooking the North Sea, so we had crossed Scotland from the Atlantic coast in the west to the North Sea in the east, having travelled 1,000 miles in the process.
We will set off for home tomorrow, with one more Castle to visit.
