Greenfinches Galore!

There were fourteen greenfinches in the garden at one point today - twelve on the ground and two on the feeder. The lower of the two photos shows a silly young greenfinch trying to land, when there are only two perches on the seed-feeder. I think it was hoping mum or dad would feed it - possibly thinking that landing on their heads would be an incentive! (See Extra on the birdbath.)

Spent a couple of hours gardening, and now we again need to take a trip to the tip. The council couldn't have picked a worse season to pull out of garden waste collection. But I think they've farmed it out to a different outfit from the general waste and recycling collection that they continue to provide.
