What would you do with a drunken sailor?
This afternoon we spent a couple of pleasant hours in an old church listening to the Swaffham Shanty Men singing. Tickets and refreshments were free but a donation to church funds expected, and happily given.
The church was St Mary's in Houghton on the Hill, very historic building with fascinating wall paintings. If you open the link you will find info on the wall in the picture, the East one. Not much of a picture but I was standing at the back.
They sung sea shanties and folk songs as well as a few modern ones, one by the group Show of Hands. Nice variety.
Project update - Dug over the old path and patio areas cleared earlier. Should have been easy but it was full of rubble and other crud. Also found lots of sand, not a lot soil, could result in future plant problems. Took longer than I expected so did not finish the next bit. So there something for tomorrows blip
