Rutland Normanton

We decided it was time to see the water Rutland is famous for, so we drove to Normanton.  After a drink at the café there we took the short walk to Normanton Church, well covered in blip pics from various people.  It was as striking as the photos I'd seen and I continued the tradition of taking some myself.  

From there we drove off to Stamford.  A complete contrast to Oakham, very busy and difficult to find car parking.  In fact we didn't stop but drove through and headed back to Oakham via the A1 avoiding Stamford.

Oakham was calm and quiet. We had lunch at a good outside table at Otters Restaurant then took a meander around stopping at the Castle Cottage Café for a coffee.
