Oakham

We took off for a short break at Rutland Water this morning.  I'd found an Airbnb a little way from the reservoir in the village of Wing. A thatched cottage in the small peaceful village comprising of Top Street, Middle Street and Bottom Street, where we are There is also a pub, not open Mondays, a Post Office, only open Wednesdays and a fish and chips delivery van every Tuesday,.

Before going to our accommodation we popped into the town of Oakham, the county town of Rutland County. There we had a little look round, visiting the castle and Cafe Nero.

The picture is of the castle, only the hall is left, and the church of All Saints in the background. The castle hall is full of horse shoes as it was stipulated that every peer of the realm visiting the castle should bring a horseshoe.  See extra.
