Finnish waters in Winter area

Made a first bicycle route today after the sickness leave. Just because it was so beautiful day. I used full aid of my electric bike, so I did not have to use too much force on pedaling.

The statue ”Finnish waters” by JOHN MUNSTERHJELM (1879-1925) was there on my way.
A naked woman plays a pike-bone harp with tongues made up of water jets. The sculpture symbolically depicts Finnish waters. The sculpture was on display at the II Sculpture Exhibition organized by the Finnish Association of Sculptors in 1911. Munsterhjelm tried to sell its fountain sculpture to both Vyborg and Porvoo. Uno Khüryn (1883-1950), the managing director of the Winter paint factory bought the work from the warehouse of the artist Munsterhjelm. The sculpture was placed in the courtyard of the deputy director's house. Later it was donated to the city of Tampere in 1997. The condition of the donation was that the work could not be moved out of the Winter factory area. The city's park unit designed its own park for the sculpture, where the work was erected in the spring of 2001. The paint factory is not placed here anymore, but the statue is in the middle on Winter area.
