Janets Foss

Today Bob and I chose to walk from Malham to Janets Foss, while the others chose a more local walk.  We had memories of this from several years ago and wanted to repeat the walk.  It was quite busy but with plenty of room for all, and we enjoyed the walk, especially in the woods.  It was a very hot day, and we did not break any records for speed.
We walked back and sat in a cafe for a while with a snack and just enjoyed people watching.

Back at the barn we met up with Helen and Dave, who had also had a good time, and had some time out in the very comfortable outdoor area with out pre-dinner drinks.  And we had another great meal, Helen is a great cook and prepared a lot at home before coming.

I uploaded an extra of the barn taken from the fields around.  It was built in the mid 1800's, and was used for cattle and the storage of hay for many years, and latterly was used as sheep pens. The farmhouse and outbuildings, which were built much later, are off to the right of the picture, but within sight.

Conversion of the barn to a luxury holiday home began in 2017, largely the work of a very talented local stonemason, and they received their first visitors in April of this year.
