It's exhausting..................

Before we came back to Cornwall on the 3rd September, Ann had a plan....................... The plan was.................... she was going to do a wine detox, regular online fitness classes and take me on extra long walks.

…............Best laid plans and all that??!!

My human has drunk wine every single day since we returned. She's done one 20 min online Pilates class which just about killed her and my walks have been shorter than the big long treks that we do in Edinburgh, though she does take me into the field to play with my ball on a regular basis!

I have to say, we're both having an absolutely lovely time in St Ives. It's fabulous to have a big sun terrace that I can go out on to whenever I want and our neighbours love me. Whenever I hear them coming out I put my front paws up on the adjoining wall. They always stroke me and make a huge fuss of me and tell me that I'm the prettiest little collie pup ever. Obviously!!!

Ann decided to make Edinburgh our main home 2-3 years ago (before I was even born) because she thought she had more friends and a better social life there. Which was true before 'lockdown'. But lockdown has put a different perspective on everything.

It still seems such an effort to organise anything in Edinburgh because the restrictions are more strict. For example, Ann was out last night for the start of the 'St Ives September Festival' to see the fabulous 'Marky Dawson' and she was able to go up to the bar and go to the toilet without putting a mask on. It wasn't busy. Obviously if it had been mobbed she would have been sensible and worn her mask. BUT COVID isn't going to go away so we just all need to learn to live with it.

Apparently Cornwall is one of the worst infected areas in the country, but there again the infection rates in Edinburgh are pretty high too. And my human might be living in 'dreamland' but she still thinks if she catches COVID it will be from travelling on Edinburgh buses, because that is the only place that she is in close proximity to strangers for longer than 15 mins.  Obv she knows she could catch it from friends but she'd hope they would tell her if they'd been in contact with anyone who had tested positive.

Anyway enough of all this doom & gloom. I had another lovely walk along the coastal path today. We were expecting rain but our weather app lied again there was no rain.

And the other thing that is different here..................... Because it's such a small town and we tend to only have 2-3 routes for my 'first thing in the morning walk' we ALWAYS meet people to chat to. Ann doesn't always know the owners names but she knows the dogs names because she used to meet them with 'MollyCollie'. And it might not seem like much, but after being 'locked down' for sooo long, human contact is really, really important.

My human knows without a shadow of a doubt, that if we had been locked down in St Ives, our lives would have been a whole lot different from being locked down in a city. For starters, we would have bumped into real live people every day on our walks that we would have chatted to. Living in a fourth floor flat in Edinburgh, we didn't even have the option to meet/see any of the neighbours out on the street and the dog walking places all became so ridiculously busy once Boris told everyone to go out for daily exercise that Ann used to trek me for miles around the city centre because that was deserted. Ann really should collate all her BLIP/FB rantings and turn them into a book of our life in lock down.

And on that note, we'll stop RANTING.

One of our very lovely neighbours is due to pop in soon for a few glasses of vino so it doesn't look like Ann's liver is going to get a rest tonight?!!!
