Velvet Top

This is the fungus last Blipped as an extra on 22nd August. Since then it has almost doubled in size and has darkened in colour. The top is covered in what appears to be chocolate coloured velvet. I am now fairly certain that it is Dyers Mazegill, also known as Velvet Top, a bracket fungus which usually grows close to the ground on Scots pines.
