Breakfast of Kings!
Sunday is a day for a day for a wee treat and I always stop of at Asda and buy a pizza for a post RPM breakfast. I was in a bit of a hurry this morning so I bought one of their pre-made ones called an 'American Hot' instead of waitng for one to be made up and lovely it was too. I have noticed a major shift in my eating patterns recently. I used to be hungry constantly but now it is on my rest day that I am absolutely insatiable and on the days that I train, I really need to force myself to eat. A few months ago, I would have devoured this pizza but this morning I could only manage half! My big running buddy explained the science behind it. Now I find myself grazing throughout the day and eat about 6-8 small meals instead of 3 large meals. Funny how your body adapts.
Absolutely loved my RPM class this morning. The stupendous one really pulled it out the bag this morning in front of a full house. I set myself a challenge at the start of the year to get better at climbing and I feel that I am starting to get there. My aim was to improve my power on the upstroke of my pedal but had been struggling. I was chatting to a fellow two wheel adventurer about it and they said I should try keeping my feet flat when climbing out the saddle and imagine that I was riding on the drops. This has been a revelation as I used to angle my toes downwards when climbing. Really felt it come together this morning and pushed some great resistance while maintaining the beat. Tried the speed track above working load again this morning, was a bit better than Friday but still pretty tough, my legs were on fire on the third 'lap'. It's hard to resist the temptation to turn back to working gear and unleash the fast twitch muscles but that would be a backward step and put me right into the comfort zone which is where I do not want to be! Last but not least, during Kings and Queens mixed terrain track I kept my resistance the same for the standing attacks and the sprints. Man I so love RPM.............
