Giacometti by Cartier-Bresson
This large photo* is the focal point of an excellent show on Henri Cartier-Bresson at the Carnavalet Museum in Paris. (It's paired with an exhibit on the earlier phototographer Eugène Atget.) Giacometti is crossing a street (the Rue d'Alésia) just a dozen blocks east of our apartment here; his studio was nearby. We were with our friends Aviva and Richie, whom we saw last June and were paying a quick visit to Paris (they live in London).
* Cartier-Bresson's photo is one of the best-known European photographs of the 20th century--the exhibition pays it suitable homage :)
