Amused to Death
As today has been mainly spent varnishing the edges of doors and filling small holes in the wall, the consequent lack of interesting photo opportunities means I have had to use a picture I have been keeping in reserve since the Via Ferrata experience day last Thursday. I rather liked the directness of the warning. No messing about with the possibility of injury - serious or otherwise - just straight to the point. Not totally unequivocal though. Death only MAY occur, so there is still an outside chance of getting away(?) with a mere hideous injury. Actually, having now done the route, I can fairly categorically state that if you did fall off one of the steep bits, you would definitely be dead! I also liked the fact that the sign had obviously been made in their own workshops.
Besides the aforementioned bits of DIY, I also managed to cut the lawns and squeeze in a session at the gym today. We were toying with the idea of heading down to Chester this afternoon, but I wanted to get all the little jobs done whilst I had the time and fine weather. I’m doing the zip wire in North Wales tomorrow, but not until the afternoon, so plenty of time to get there if we make an early start in the morning. Will spend tomorrow night in Chester though, before returning to Kendal on Wednesday. Saves too much driving in one day and gives us a chance to check all is ok with the flat. Might even call in on mother if there’s time. Would also like to squeeze in a run along the canal first thing on Wednesday morning, but that will very much depend on the weather and how I’m feeling after Tuesday’s activities.
I feel an early night tonight will be in order…
